March 29, 2008 – Kerryn and Samuel got married. I saw a couple of special things at the reception later at the Pukekohe Indian Association Centre which I’d like to share here.

I was the master of ceremonies that evening, and near the end of the speeches, the guests were all surprised when I introduced Kerryn’s 80 year old grandmother. She presented a poem she’d written, using a microphone for the very first time. It really was quite special.

Later after their first dance, Kerryn threw her bouquet. With plenty of ladies lined up (and one or two guys, as usual) ready to catch the bouquet, it hardly seemed fair to have to fight for it. Kerryn had arranged for her bouquet to be made up of several smaller bouquets with 3 or 4 flowers in each. This meant there was plenty of wedding bouquet to go around. It was the first time I’d ever seen this done, and it was a stand out moment! 🙂

Another great idea used tonight that your guests will love was the use of a screen and projector. We connected a laptop and displayed pictures of Samuel and Kerryn, both recent ones and some from thei childhoods, along with family photos and wedding photos of their parents and so on. A large screen and projector is very cost effective to hire. Talk to Edwards Sound in Auckland for more information.

Also – the guests at this wedding really went all out in an effort to win a unique photo competition I run for fun in an effort to make the most of the disposable cameras. If you are planning to provide disposable cameras at your wedding, I have a couple of techniques that will help you get the most from them (and your guests).

A message of thanks from the bride and groom, Kerryn and Samuel.
